On Friday 18 May, 12 St John’s students were selected to perform in the Anglican Schools Music Festival at the Queensland Performing Arts Complex.  Students participated in workshops all day and it culminated in an evening performance at the Concert Hall.

With our very own Mr Neill Thacker conducting the Combined School’s Symphonic Band, Mr Johnny Ng conducting the Combined School’s String Orchestra and Mr Paul Holley conducting the Combined School’s Choir all groups performed to an incredibly high standard. The night concluded with a commissioned piece entitled ‘With Splendour and Glory’ by renowned Australian composer Sean O’Boyle who also conducted the mass ensemble.  Congratulations to all involved it was a very successful event.

On Monday 21 May, the Primary Alpine Singers performed at the Queensland Youth Music Awards.  They sang beautifully and received a Silver award. This is an excellent result from their very first public performance for the year. The children were so excited, and we are very proud of them.

Tomorrow night, Friday 25 May our Mezzo Voce and Fella Voce vocal groups are performing at the Ipswich Eisteddfod, and next Tuesday evening our Bella Voce girls will compete in the Queensland Youth Music Awards, we wish them all the very best.

Don’t forget to check out the performances on the main stage for our College Carnival on Saturday 26 from 12:00 noon- 7pm many of our performance groups from both campuses will be performing!
