Lakeside Reflection

Welcome to the new school year. I hope you had a great break during the holidays and are ready for the start another school year.

We welcome Chaplain Peter Jeffery to our school this year. Peter has been placed at St John’s for a year. At the end of the year, all being well, Peter will be ordained and move into his role as a permanent full time school chaplain at another school. Peter has worked as a chaplain at Church of England Grammar and The Southport School. His placement at St John’s will be two days a week, one day at the Secondary Campus and one day at the Primary Campus. It will be great to have Chaplain Peter on the team.

Each year our Archbishop, Phillip Aspinall, challenges Anglican Schools to think beyond our school boundaries. This year the Archbishop has asked us to “Safeguard the integrity of creation.” He says, “the purpose of the message is twofold:

  • to generate greater connectedness between School communities and the broader Church within Southern Queensland; and
  • to ask School communities to support a particular theme or priority for the year as a faith in action or practical Christianity initiative.”
