Primary News

Our 2017 school year has ended with great celebration and happiness. The students have enjoyed a wonderful year of learning and we congratulate them on the way in which they have approached their studies with enthusiasm. The Early Years Night of Celebration held on the evening of Friday 24 November was a joyful event. The children in the year levels, Prep to Year Two presented items to entertain their families and a number of performing arts groups involving upper primary students were also involved.

For those members of our families who live overseas or who were unable to attend the Night of Celebration, a recording of the evening is still available for viewing by following the steps below:

We congratulated the current Year Six students for their leadership this year, at an assembly on Monday 27 November. That evening a special dinner was held for them to reflect on their primary years and to look forward to the new experiences and adventures that await them in secondary school. The Primary Captains Nadine Altawil and Lincoln Maufoe, along with Vice Captains Talia Golding and Harrison Pascoe did a wonderful job as Masters of Ceremonies at the Early Years Night of Celebration and the Year Six Dinner. We thank them for their invaluable assistance on both occasions.

On Wednesday 29 November the Kindergarten children presented a Christmas concert for their families and the students in Years Three to Six participated in a Christmas Chapel Service in the Performing Arts Auditorium, with the secondary students. Corelli Strings were invited to assist with the music for this service and the students thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity.

Our last day of school for 2017 is Friday 1 December and families are invited to join us for our Christmas Concert at 9.00am in the Chapel on this day. Students are permitted to wear a colourful Christmas shirt with their sports shorts and sports shoes and socks.

Semester Two student reports will be available for parents to access in the first week of the Christmas holidays and families will receive a mailout with important information about the commencement of the 2018 school year, during December.

School recommences on Tuesday 23 January for students in Prep to Year 12, while Kindergarten children will have their first day at Little Saints on Monday 22 January. On Thursday 18 January students will be invited to meet their teacher for 2018 at the following times:

Kindergarten Play Date and Parent Information Session 1.00pm – 2.00pm

Prep Play Date and Parent Information Session, 2.30pm – 3.30pm

Year 1 to Year 6 Meet the Teacher, 5.00pm – 6.15pm

Years 7 to 9 Induction Evening, 6.30pm – 7.00pm followed by an MYP Parent Information Session

Students should wear their formal school uniform to this event and can bring along their stationery supplies at this time. Primary families will receive an email prior to this evening to inform them of their child’s class teacher for 2018.

I extend my sincere thanks to the many family members of our College community who have supported our programs and events in numerous ways this year. We have greatly appreciated their participation with in-class activities, coaching sporting teams, covering books, joining in our special events and many more. Thank you!

I wish you all a very happy and memorable holiday break and pray that your lives will be touched by God’s love as you reflect on the real meaning of Christmas.

Kind regards
