Welcome to 2020 from the Performing Arts Department. We have had a smooth start to the Term introducing new staff to the College (Jacob Ballard – Primary classroom music, Fletcher Mitchell – Brass specialist, Grace Kikuchi – Primary lower strings, Zac Sakrewski – Secondary bass, cello, guitar and piano) along with our wonderful continuing staff.

All of our Performing Arts ensembles and clubs start in Week 3 (next week) across both campuses and we look forward to re-engaging with the creative process in all of these groups to produce wonderful works once again this year.

Drama has started the year with an incursion from Shake and Stir Theatre Company. The Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 Drama students all had the pleasure of seeing George Orwell’s 1984 brought to life on the stage in a tension-building production filled with many skills our students can learn and thus be inspired.

I welcome all parents to attend and join our Friends of The Arts (FOTA), the first meeting will be next Wednesday 12 February 12 at 6:00pm in the Performing Arts Centre of Excellence Foyer. This group creates great friendships and helps the Performing Arts Department and the P&F raise money for the College by running and assisting at events. We would love more people to be involved to assist our Performing Arts students and community to thrive.

The first FOTA event for the year will be our Annual Trivia Night – please mark your diaries for the evening of Saturday 7 March and join in the fun.

We look forward to seeing you all at our various events this year and hope to bring joy to our world through the Arts.

Should you need to contact us our lines of communication are always open.
