We warmly invite our College families and the wider community to come along to the much anticipated 2020 event, the St John’s College Carnival, at the St John’s Secondary School on Saturday 30 May 2020. With fireworks, delicious food and beverages, rides, performances and a range of stalls, it is an event not to be missed! Parents’ Welcome Event

Principal, Mrs Maria McIvor warmly invites our College families to attend the first welcome event of 2020. Mrs McIvor looks forward to sharing exciting new plans for the future of St John’s Anglican College as well as introducing families to our world-class educators.

Hear more about our parent support groups and how you can get involved as well as getting to know other families within our College community. Enjoy refreshments in the Foyer while your children are entertained with fun activities.

Storytime Fun!

Bring your little one along and experience St John’s Storytime Fun!

Listen to a story or two together and take home an activity to try. This is an opportunity for you to enjoy time with your child and experience the fun of books. This month’s theme is DINOSAURS!

This event is open to the public for all pre-kindy children accompanied by an adult. Storytime Fun! is held on the last Monday of each month (during Term time) in the St John’s Information and Research Centre, at the Primary Campus.

Getting to Know Our Staff

We would like to announce the following new and returning staff members, please join with us in welcoming them to our College community.

Kimberly Samanes – Primary Teacher – Year Four
We welcome back Kimberly to teach Year Four having previously worked for St John’s during Semester One last 2019 and has a wealth of experience teaching across diverse settings.

Abbie Sheahen – Primary Teacher – Year Three
Abbie joins us from John Paul College to teach Year Three.  Abbie has a passion for teaching young students and will bring a wealth of enthusiasm to the role.

Christopher Tuohy – Primary Teacher – Year Five
Chris recently relocated to Queensland from Melbourne where he worked at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar.

Robyn Allen – Secondary Teacher – International College
Robyn previously taught at our College during 2013 through to 2015 and has continued to perform the role of Study Tour Teacher recently

Deborah Wilson – Primary Teacher – Prep
We also welcome back Deb to teach our Prep students.  Deb has a strong connection with St John’s being a foundation teacher at the College.

Petta Scheiwe – Secondary Teacher – Humanities
Peta joins us to teach English and German to our Secondary students and brings a breadth of professional and life experiences to the role.

Jordan Kyle – Secondary Teacher – English/Humanities
Jordan joins the College to teach SOSE, History and RaVE having recently graduated with a Master of Teaching from UQ.

Jacob Ballard – Primary Teacher – Classroom Music
Bringing diverse experience across Performing Arts in Music, Drama, Choral and Instrumental fields Jacob Ballard joins our College community to take up the Primary Classroom Music Teacher role while Courtney Truce is on maternity leave during Semester One.

Katrina Brown – Primary Teacher – Learning Enhancement and Support
Katrina brings a wealth of experience from her previous teaching roles in both mainstream and specialist classrooms.

Christy Crosthwaite – Primary Teacher Aide – Learning Enhancement and Support
Christy joins St John’s having previously held teaching positions and is highly experienced in teaching children with a diverse range of learning needs.

Claudia Lezar – Primary Teacher – Year Six
Recently graduating from QUT, Claudia will take up the role of Year 6 Primary Teacher.  Claudia has a keen interest in robotics and has held the role of Robotics Ambassador for QUT.

Ezequiel Balmori Melian – Secondary Teacher – Biology
Following several years in public and private research institutions Dr Ezequiel decided to join the teaching profession and now joins our Science Department in the role of Science (Biology) Teacher.

Fiona Gunthorpe – Secondary Teacher – Learning Enhancement and Support
Fiona will join the growing Learning Enhancement and Support team on the Secondary campus in a teaching capacity with a range of school and government administration experience.

Patricia Grant – Secondary Teacher Aide – Learning Enhancement and Support
Patricia is an experienced Teacher Aide having worked in several schools both in Queensland and New South Wales previously.

Paul Huddle – Grounds/Maintenance
A carpenter by trade, Paul returns to our College community in the role of Grounds/Maintenance Officer during 2020.  Paul’s children were previously enrolled in our Early Years and Primary programs.

Rachel Scott – Secondary Teacher – English
Rachel has recently relocated from Darwin to Queensland and has previous experience teaching in an IB school.

Judaline Ryan – Primary Teacher Aide
Judaline who has recently been fulfilling a Primary Teacher Aide role on a part-time basis will now be working on a full-time basis.

Kymberly Hampton – Secondary Teacher – English
Kymberly joins us for Term One on a part-time basis.  Kymberly is an experienced and passionate educator who has also worked as an Academic Talent Developer.  Kymberly’s teaching areas also include Literature, Humanities, Christian Studies and Media.
