College Carnival

Every second year we hold a Carnival at the College and this is our major fundraiser for that year, contributing substantial funds to a variety of programs and projects at St John’s and enhancing the educational experiences of your children. This year the College Carnival will held on Saturday 26 May, and we invite everyone to get involved to make this year’s event super successful because it is the College’s 25th Anniversary.

Besides all the fun of the rides, the great range of food available and finishing the event with fireworks, we also like to provide a variety of stalls for visitors to enjoy. We are looking for parents and friends to assist with convening some stalls, donating items and/or assisting on the day. Many hands make light work and the more people we have involved, the more we can share the work around.

Some suggestions for our 2018 stalls include:

  • Second Hand Toys
  • Things in a Jar
  • Lucky Dip /Lucky Sticks
  • Cakes and Sweets
  • Chocolate Box
  • White Elephant
  • Second Hand Books
  • Lucky Balloons

Every year level (Kindy to Year Six) requires at least one person to be the year level convenor who will oversee the running of one of the stalls. Please contact Sandra Hawken if you are willing to assist with convening so we can confirm your year level stall. Once confirmed, families will be asked to contribute to the success of the stall. For example, if Year 3 looks after the ‘Things in Jar’ stall, all Year 3 students will be asked to bring along items to fill bottles or jars to be sold at the Carnival.

The roles we are asking parents to take on are not arduous or difficult and they are not overly time consuming, but they do provide major support to St John’s, so please let the College know how you can contribute to this year’s Carnival. We would also love to hear your suggestions for another stall or activity at the Carnival. If you have any good ideas to help make our Carnival the best, please contact Sandra Hawken.
