Book Week and Other Events
Next week we celebrate the love of reading with a variety of events taking place. We also present the Year Six PYP Exhibition. This will be held on Wednesday 30 August in Living Faith Chapel and families are most welcome to visit and discover the amazing things our students have been acting upon their learning.
Puppet Workshop Hour for Years 3 to 6 – Tuesday 29 August in the Primary Library
Students in the upper primary grades can register for this fabulous experience with Brett Hansen, an expert puppeteer. They will learn how to use muppet-like puppets in a fun and hands-on workshop. The evening costs $15 per student and includes supper. Please complete the registration form and return it to Primary Reception as soon as possible to secure your place.
Book Week Parade for Prep to Year Six students – Wednesday 30 August
The annual Book Week Parade will be held in the Meadow at 9.00am. Children in Prep to Year Six classes are invited to wear a fancy dress costume representing a character from their favourite book and keeping within the 2017 Book Week Theme of ‘Everywhere Around the World’. Family members are most welcome to come along and watch. Prizes will be awarded to the winning Book Week costumes from each year level.
Pyjama Party for Kindy to Year Two students – Friday 1 September
The Pyjama Party for children in Kindy to Year Two will be held from 6.00pm to 7.00pm in the Primary Library. Children can wear their pyjamas and come along, with an adult to hear puppet storytelling and other fun activities.
On Friday 15 September from 8.45am to 10.30am, we will hold our annual Walkathon. This event will involve students from Kindy through to Year Six. Students may elect to wear ‘crazy socks’ on the day with their College sports uniform including College yard hat. Please click here for more information.
The Walkathon, organised by the Parents and Friends Association, Friends of the School (FOS) Committee, with the support of the College, has historically been one of the most prominent and successful fundraising events on our school calendar.
The aim of the Walkathon is for our students to participate in a fun outdoor activity to raise money for our school to enable St John’s to continue to improve the facilities available to the students at our College. Please click here for the Sponsorship form.
