Captain’s Report
Jireh Fuamoli – Basketball
St John’s Basketball are still on fire as the results across the fixtures against St Paul’s and Canterbury were outstanding. Shout out to the Year Eight and Ten teams who stayed dominant in Round Three against Canterbury, while the other Basketball squads narrowly losing in their games. In Round Four against St Pauls, Year’s Eight, Nine and Ten succeeded in defeating their opponents whilst the rest of the teams again, just losing to their opponents. Shout out to the Year Eight and Ten teams who are currently in First Place, fighting for the premiership. I’d like to keep encouraging the boys to keep coming to early trainings, so we are prepared for the tough games ahead of us. “Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming”.

Rising Stars
Football (Soccer)
Congratulations to Year Seven student Joel Townsend who has been selected to trial for the Brisbane Roar U/13 Academy.  This is an invitation only trial which provides the opportunity for boys selected to follow Professional Football Pathway.  Well done Joel!

Congratulations to Year Seven student Sophie Nichols and Year Eleven student Laura-Grace Nichols who last weekend competed at the Southern Steel Tamborine Equestrian Group International 3 Day Event.  Laura-Grace won her class outright and was also Top Junior rider in that group.  This is such an amazing and memorable result.  Sophie made it to the top half of her class of which she was by far the youngest competitor.  Both results will be used for qualifiers for Regional Championships 2019.

After a trip to Warwick, Laura-Grace placed well in Combined Training and in Eventing. Sophie had a fantastic run in the Eventing and in the Combined Training, placing her on the Reserve List for the Queensland State Team to compete in Melbourne later in the year.

Well done to both the girls.  They have worked tirelessly this year with their riding between school work and other school sports team commitments.

Metropolitan West Trials
Metropolitan West trials have now commenced for the year and all are being advertised in the Daily Notices.  Students wishing to trial must have previous experience in their chosen sport and on most occasions, be required to trial at the Southern Scorpions District Trials.  Please ensure you see Miss Birch before the nominated date.
