Term One ended rather abruptly, with the severe wet weather that occurred and a number of families missed out on their interview with teachers because school was cancelled on the last two days of term. I encourage all families who were not able to attend a parent teacher interview at the end of last term to contact their child’s teacher to arrange another mutually convenient time. Interviews with teachers can provide more information about the progress of your child than the overview in the written reports.
We commenced the new term on Wednesday this week, with an Easter Service in Living Faith Chapel and all the students from Prep to Year Six attended. It was lovely to hear the children singing together, remembering the significance of Easter and looking forward to the new learning and opportunities that the coming term promises.
Year Four Camp
Although our Year Four students had to cut short their three day camp in the last week of Term One, due to the extreme weather conditions, they managed to squeeze a huge amount of fun and activity into their time away from home and school. All reports that I have received from students and teachers have been very positive and everyone had a marvellous time. The images below give a snapshot into some of the fun the students enjoyed. We thank Mr Brownlow, Mr Murray, Mrs Wilson, Mrs Abeyewardene and Mrs Coates for accompanying the students on this camp.
Term Two Clubs
All Clubs will re- commence next week, in Week Two. Those families wishing to have their child participate in the afternoon Chess program should complete the registration from and return it to Gardiner Chess as outlined in the information provided. Click here for more information on Chess.
Scholastic Book Club
Your child should have received a Scholastic Book Club brochure. Orders are due by Friday 5 May. Please note that we cannot take orders at the College. You will need to order online via the Scholastic website.
Important Note: When placing an order, the postcode is 4077 (we realise the postcode is incorrect but this is the number that has been allocated to us by Scholastic).
For each order our parents place with Scholastic Book Club, the College will earn bonus points which we can use to obtain resources for the students so we thank you in advance for all your support.
If you would like items put aside for you to collect, please let Mrs Shaw or Primary Reception know and that can be arranged.
If you have any questions, please email Mrs Cheryn Shaw firstname.lastname@example.org.
International Baccalaureate Information Presentation – next P&F Meeting
Parents and Friends are invited to the next P&F meeting to be held on Wednesday 3 May when a presentation on the IB Primary Years Program will be given. This presentation will provide an update on the implementation of this learning framework and our plans to become an IB World School. The meeting will be held at the secondary campus starting at 7pm and I look forward to seeing you there.
