Often our students participate in special events and competitions at State and National levels and we need to congratulate them on their achievements. Recently two Primary students competed in two entirely different events and won their respective sections.

Sophie Nicholls, currently in Year Six represented St John’s in the Interschool State Equestrian Championships. Sophie competed in a number of events including show jumping and cross country riding and was successful in becoming Queensland State Champion for Primary One Day Eventing, Reserve Champion for Primary Combined Training 60cm and 4th for Primary Combined Training 80cm. This has now gained her two places on the Queensland State Team for Combined Training and she is off to the Nationals representing both Queensland and St Johns Anglican College in September this year. We congratulate Sophie on the marvellous result and wish her all the best at the National competition.

Deeptangsu Maitra currently in Year Five competed in the Australian Percussion Eisteddfod in Sydney last weekend in the Primary Drumkit Solo and was placed first. Deep is very committed to his drumming and spends many hours practicing. It is wonderful to see him achieve a result at such a high level. We congratulation Deep on his outstanding achievement.
